Absent Without Leave.

I apologize to the readers of this Blog for being absent without leave. You may notice that there is a large gap between posts on the blog between November of 2011 and June of 2012. To say that I have been busy for the past few months is an understatement. There are two major events that occurred in my life that have taken much of my time and focus.

The first event occurred in November of 2011 when my wife Amanda was almost killed in a car accident. She was driving on the highway to work in her 2004 Saturn Ion. She was stopped in the slow lane waiting in line to exit the highway. While stopped, she was hit from behind by a fully loaded Box Truck driving at or above the speed limit. The car she was in was crushed and she was lucky to survive. Click here to see pictures of the car and the truck that hit her. Helping her recover was my main focus for several months.

The second event occurred in March of 2012 when I accepted the position of Engineering Director with The Bare Board Group Incorporated (BBG). BBG is an award-winning, nationally recognized circuit board industry leader with 18 employees in the Florida office, eight employees in the Taiwan office, hundreds of active customers, over 65 active sales representatives nationwide, and annual sales that have exceeded $20 million for the last 5 years.

Accepting the position with BBG required that my family and I move to Florida. Finding a place to live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida was not too difficult. Selling our home in Concord New Hampshire however was another story. We were fortunate enough to sell our home in Concord NH. This was not an easy task with the real-estate market in decline and property values below what we paid. Packing, moving and unpacking a large home into an apartment half the size was a challenge as well. Being an Engineer does come in handy.

After many months of a roller-coaster ride, things are finally returning to normal (or as normal as things can be). My goal from this point on is to write one post each week. For those looking for more information on a particular topic please feel free to email me.
